I’ve created a custom GPT called Monthly Financial Analyst. It works with ChatGPT 5.1.

It will ask you to upload the monthly financial package you receive from your CFO or accounting service. Once you do that, it will prepare a detailed report:

1. Executive Summary
2. Key Metrics
   • Table with Actuals vs. Budget
   • Table with Actuals vs. Prior Year
3. Financial Insights
   • Notable Trends (What’s working)
   • Surprises or Anomalies
   • Areas of Concern or Needed Improvement
   • Strategic Implications
4. Accountant Questions
5. Follow-Up Actions
6. Glossary of Accounting Terms

This is the easiest solution. No setup required. Just click the link above and get working.

However, Claude will produce a much more valuable report.

A Claude Project

If you've never built a cloud project before, it's easy.

1. Download Claude for desktop (available for Mac and Windows).

2. Sign up for a paid subscription if you haven't already done so. Start with the Pro plan. If you max that out, upgrade to the Max plan. I’m on the $200/month Max plan. It sounds expensive, but the ROI is worth it.

3. Click on the Projects menu item (1), then click on New Project (2).

   

4. Now give your project a name and a description (optional).

5. Click on Instructions.

   

6. Copy and paste the prompt below (open the toggle).
